Tech Events Around Boston- September 2014 Roundup

Looking for a technology event in September in the Boston area? The following are free and low-cost tech events that will get your child involved in STEM-related activities.

September 2: Code Academy at the Dudley branch of the Boston Public Library (Roxbury). Learn to use Ruby, a powerful yet beginner-friendly programming language used for professional web apps. (Ages 13-18)

September 2: Design and print your own 3D Printed Pin at MakerBot (Boston). Class offers interactive introduction to 3D design and printing. Cost: $25. (Ages 7-14)

September 3: Science Fun at Cary Memorial Library (Lexington). Hands-on, daring experiments for young scientists. (Grades 4-6)

MIT Museum
The MIT Museum offers STEM events for kids and young adults

September 6: 3D Printerfest at Einstein’s Workshop (Burlington). Come see examples of 3D prints created by kids, teens, and adults, demonstrations of multiple types of 3D printers, and workshops introducing how to design a 3D-printable object. (Free event open to all ages.)

September 6: Hands-on Engineering and Design at the MIT Museum. Explore topics in design and engineering with artistic circuits, 3D design, and a variety of other topics with hands-on making and tinkering exercises! (Free with Museum admission; for ages 12+).

September 6: Young Explorers- Kids Series at MakerBot (Boston).  This class lets kids play while learning and designing in 3D thanks to easy to use software. Cost: $10. (For younger children.)

In a workshop presented by Collegewise of Newton, you’ll learn  whether a STEM path is right for you and the essential skills STEM students need to succeed in college, and how to make sure those same skills get noticed by an admissions officer. (For high school students).

September 13: Hands-on Engineering and Design at the MIT Museum. Explore topics in design and engineering with artistic circuits, 3D design, and a variety of other topics with hands-on making and tinkering exercises! (Free with Museum admission and for ages 12+).

September 13: At the MIT Museum, get behind the scenes insight from the creator of Space Racers, a new animated preschool television program on WGBH. Learn about rockets and planes from MIT students with hands-on activities and demonstrations! (Free with Museum admission; for young children).

September 16: Try out your engineering skills and build a Ducky Bot at the Newton Free Library (Newton). (For kids ages 5+).
