Advising Sessions for Families

Have a phone or video conversation with BostonTechMom.

I’m Cyndi Reitmeyer, founder and editor of BostonTechMom. I’ve researched, reviewed, and blogged about K-12 STEM after-school and summer programs for over a decade. In addition to my free website, I provide individualized consulting services to families who need help sorting through the rich array of available programs to find the right ones for their children. I also consult with not-for-profit organizations and education startups to help them develop their STEM programming.

I’ve now added a special service for parents—and even teens—who want to talk with me individually about their STEM needs and interests. These sessions are more informal and unstructured than my other family consulting services, which have a specific goal and result in a formal report and recommendations. I love working with families and sharing my insights from years of experience researching STEM programs for kids and teens. There’s nothing more exciting and empowering than a give-and-take conversation and brainstorming session about STEM possibilities!

An hourly STEM advisory session is a good fit for...

How the session works

I speak with parents, the student, or parents together with their child or teen. We can schedule an online video meeting or a phone call: it’s your choice. Before the session, I’ll ask you to complete a questionnaire, and based on your answers, I will come prepared to answer questions, ask you and your child some clarifying or thought-provoking questions, discuss your needs, and brainstorm ideas. My hourly STEM consulting fee is $150 and must be paid by PayPal or Venmo before the meeting.

Interested in scheduling a session? Get started by filling out the no-obligation questionnaire. It will help me understand what you are looking for and may spark more questions from me that will help us focus our conversation. I will respond after reviewing your form. Or contact me directly, and let’s talk about how I can help.

Cyndi has been a tremendous resource in finding STEM summer and academic programs for my two children over the past five years. She carefully evaluated the needs and interests of both children to craft tailored and thoughtful recommendations for each child. She gets to know each client through a detailed questionnaire, multiple email and in-person conversations, and then (upon the creation of a custom program) an hourlong substantive discussion of her recommendations.

Cyndi recommended specific summer programs that both children enjoyed, and identified excellent term-time opportunities for my younger child who is very interested in programming and AI. She knows numerous STEM program directors and can provide insightful, behind-the-scenes guidance on the merits of different programs, and (given how competitive these programs are) I especially appreciated when she would alert me in advance to program openings and deadlines.

As a busy working parent who does not have time to track or research STEM programs, I was thrilled to find someone with her expertise in STEM programs nationwide and her network in particular geographic regions. Cyndi is warm, professional, completely organized, incredibly responsive, and an all-around top-tier consultant.
