It’s time to celebrate robots and explore robotics during the sixth annual National Robotics Week being held April 4-12, 2015. There will be events and activities hosted around the country. According to the organization that sponsors the week, the goal is to “increase public awareness of the growing importance of ‘robo-technology’ and the tremendous social and cultural impact that it will have on the future of the United States.”
What does this mean for you? National Robotics Week provides an opportunity to take your children to events to learn about robotics and explore robotic technology by attending programs and seeing real-world applications.
Last year there were RoboWeek events in all 50 states, so there may be one near you. It’s easy to find an event; just click on Find Events to sort by state and find one near you.
Want to see robots compete live? This is the perfect week to see a FIRST Robotics competition as there will be many tournaments taking place around the country. In my home state of Massachusetts, the FIRST New England Championship will be held April 9-11 at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
Let’s show our support for this initiative and learn about robotics technology during the week. In the meantime, here’s a short video that your kids might like about NASA’s Mars Curiosity rover.
